According to internal police communication obtained by SUNTV Global Channel, the directive—issued from Force Headquarters in Abuja—orders commands across the country to immediately submit details of selected personnel for election duty.
The signal, dated April 20, 2026, was transmitted by senior police authorities to key commands including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan, Osogbo, Akure, Benin, Makurdi, Lokoja, Asaba, Abeokuta, and Ebonyi, indicating a coordinated nationwide security operation.
Sources reveal that hundreds of officers are expected to be deployed, with larger contingents drawn from major commands such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Osogbo. Other commands have been assigned smaller but strategic quotas, highlighting a comprehensive security arrangement ahead of the poll.
“You are directed to forward names of SPOs, Inspectors, and rank-and-file officers in preparation for the forthcoming gubernatorial election,” the internal message stated.
The directive also requires detailed personal and financial information of the selected officers, including service numbers, bank details, and contact information—raising concerns about the urgency and scale of data collection.
Police authorities emphasized strict compliance, warning officers responsible for submissions to ensure accuracy, particularly in financial records.
“Ensure only correct salary account details are forwarded as you will be held vicariously liable for any wrong account number,” the message warned.
A strict deadline of April 21, 2026, was set for submissions, underscoring the importance attached to the exercise.
