ILESA, OSUN STATE — Tension has reportedly gripped parts of Ilesa, Osun State, following an alleged shooting incident during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in which a 12-year-old boy was reportedly injured.
According to reports, the boy was inside his mother’s shop when gunshots were allegedly fired during the campaign. Several APC supporters were also reportedly injured in the incident.
An eyewitness cited in the report alleged that the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, was present at the scene alongside operatives of the Amotekun Corps when the incident occurred.
The eyewitness further alleged that the Amotekun operatives and the lawmaker fired shots during the incident, resulting in injuries to some APC members. These claims have not been independently verified by SUNTV Global Channel.
The 12-year-old boy was reportedly caught in the incident while sitting inside his mother’s shop. A photograph obtained by the original publication appeared to show the boy lying on what looked like a hospital bed, suggesting that he may have received medical attention.
The incident has reportedly triggered protests in parts of Ilesa, with some residents demanding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting of the minor.
