A fresh dispute has erupted in Nigeria’s power sector as the (TCN) strongly refutes claims by the (AEDC) linking the ongoing blackout in parts of Kogi State to a transmission fault.
In a statement issued Wednesday, TCN described AEDC’s public notice as “misleading” and inaccurate, insisting that its infrastructure in the Lokoja axis remains fully operational.
According to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, all feeders at the Lokoja Transmission Substation are functioning optimally, with no recorded faults, outages, or maintenance activities affecting power supply.
“There is no failure whatsoever on the transmission network in Lokoja. Bulk electricity is being delivered to AEDC at the required capacity for distribution to consumers,” the statement emphasized.
The company distanced itself completely from the disruption being experienced by residents, maintaining that the issue lies beyond its transmission network.
TCN further warned industry stakeholders against what it described as a growing trend of shifting blame without proper verification.
“Unverified claims not only distort facts but also erode public trust in the power sector,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to efficiency and collaboration, TCN assured Nigerians that it remains focused on maintaining a stable transmission network while working with partners to improve electricity delivery nationwide.
The development highlights ongoing challenges within Nigeria’s electricity value chain, where tensions between generation, transmission, and distribution companies continue to impact end users.
