Explosion Hits Kebbi Hospital Staff Quarters, Police Deploy Bomb Experts

An early morning explosion has rocked the General Hospital in Bagudo, Kebbi State, causing damage to a section of the hospital’s staff quarters and triggering an immediate security response.

SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the blast occurred on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through the hospital environment and sparking panic among health workers and nearby residents.

Confirming the incident, the Kebbi State Police Command said security operatives swiftly moved to the scene and successfully contained the situation. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, assured the public that no casualties were recorded.

According to the police, a joint security team comprising personnel from the police, military, and local vigilante groups has cordoned off the affected area to prevent further threats and ensure public safety.

“The Kebbi State Police Command wishes to assure members of the public that we have full control of the security situation following the explosion at the General Hospital, Bagudo,” Usman stated.

He disclosed that experts from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit have been deployed to conduct a detailed assessment of the blast site as part of an ongoing investigation.

Usman added that although a building within the staff quarters sustained damage, the occupants had evacuated before the explosion, resulting in zero casualties.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered additional tactical deployments to maintain calm and restore confidence within the community.

Authorities have also launched a full-scale investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, while residents have been advised to stay away from the immediate vicinity of the hospital to avoid interfering with security operations.
