Residents of Abudu Community in Apado Ward, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, were thrown into fear after suspected bandits launched a late-night attack, abducting a pregnant woman and two other residents while allegedly stealing about ₦4 million.
According to reports, the heavily armed attackers invaded the community on Tuesday night, initially targeting residents in a robbery operation. During the attack, the assailants reportedly made away with approximately ₦4 million before kidnapping three victims, including a pregnant woman, and fleeing to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government Area, Hon. Lukman Olayinka, assured residents that security agencies had intensified efforts to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Speaking in a video, Olayinka said available intelligence indicated that the attackers were primarily motivated by robbery but resorted to kidnapping after discovering a large amount of money in the community.
He expressed optimism that the abducted victims would regain their freedom soon, while urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
As of the time of this report, the whereabouts of the three kidnapped victims remain unknown, and security operatives are continuing search-and-rescue operations.
