The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns over alleged last-minute changes to the list of Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday by the council’s Media and Publicity Committee Chairman, Representative Bamidele Salam, the campaign alleged that some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who had previously been selected, accredited and trained by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were suddenly replaced.
According to the campaign council, the alleged changes were reported in several local government areas, including Egbedore, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West.
TICC claimed that some newly listed electoral officials were not among those on the original deployment list and allegedly did not participate in the earlier INEC training exercises.
The campaign council described the reported development as “deeply troubling,” arguing that sudden changes to the identities of election officials could raise questions about the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.
It also alleged that some Local Government Collation Officers were changed on Friday, just a day before the election.
The council called on INEC to immediately clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported substitutions and provide information about the identities, qualifications and accreditation of the newly deployed personnel.
TICC further appealed to the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, to work with INEC to verify the identities of all corps members being deployed for electoral duties.
The campaign council said proper verification was necessary to prevent unauthorised individuals from being presented as NYSC personnel and deployed to polling units.
It also raised concerns about the safety of genuine corps members who would be participating in the election, warning that inadequate verification could expose young Nigerians deployed for electoral duties to unnecessary risks.
“The integrity of the electoral process and the safety of our young corps members must take precedence over every partisan or political consideration,” the council said.
TICC urged INEC to act transparently and responsibly, insisting that only properly identified, trained and accredited personnel should be permitted to conduct the election at polling units across the state.
However, the allegations contained in the campaign council’s statement had not been independently verified in the material available, and INEC had not provided a response to the claims at the time of reporting.
The development comes as political parties intensify preparations for the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election, with security, electoral transparency and the credibility of the voting process remaining major issues.
