A fresh wave of insecurity has hit rural communities in Kogi State after suspected bandits kidnapped a farmer while he was working on his land in Odo-Eri, located in Yagba West.
SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the victim, identified simply as Agbeji, was abducted on Saturday while tending to crops on his farm in the agrarian settlement. Witness accounts indicate that the attackers stormed the area suddenly and forcefully took him away to an undisclosed location.
According to a report by SaharaReporters, no contact had been established with the victim’s family as of the time of filing this report, and there has been no ransom demand.
The incident has sparked widespread panic among residents, who say rural farmers are increasingly becoming easy targets for armed groups. Many locals are now abandoning their farmlands over fears of further attacks.
Community members are calling on security agencies across Nigeria to step up patrols in remote farming areas and forest corridors to prevent additional kidnappings and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted farmer.
