Relief swept through parts of Kogi State after a pastor of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners’ Chapel, regained his freedom following days in the custody of suspected bandits.
SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the cleric, who was abducted along the Oke-Offin–Kabba/Bunu axis, was released unharmed and later found in Aiyetoro Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area, where his captors reportedly abandoned him.
The pastor was kidnapped on Friday, December 27, 2025, while on his way to his farm in the Oke-Offin area. He was travelling on a commercial motorcycle when armed men intercepted them along the road.
Eyewitnesses said the pastor attempted to escape by jumping off the motorcycle on sighting the attackers. While the commercial rider managed to flee without injury, the cleric was seized and taken to an undisclosed location.
A local community platform, Egbe Mekun, disclosed that no ransom was paid for the pastor’s release, though security authorities are yet to officially confirm the circumstances surrounding his freedom.
Sources close to the family confirmed that the pastor is in stable condition and is expected to reunite with his loved ones shortly.
The incident has renewed concerns over rising insecurity along rural routes in Kogi State, particularly around farming communities, where residents say kidnappings and armed attacks have become increasingly frequent.
