Suspected bandits have launched a deadly attack in Southern Kaduna, killing one person and abducting several others, including children and a pregnant woman.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Zuturung Tintaah village, located in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a family source, the assailants invaded the residence of Sunday Stephen Michael, where they carried out the attack. During the raid, a 48-year-old neighbour, Yashim Raphael, was shot and killed.
The attackers reportedly abducted about 10 people, including men, women, children, and a pregnant woman, before fleeing to an unknown destination.
This latest incident adds to the growing wave of insecurity in Southern Kaduna, which has witnessed repeated violent attacks in recent times.
Earlier this week, at least 13 people were killed and 28 others kidnapped when gunmen attacked a wedding ceremony in Kukyer and Kahir villages in Kagarko Local Government Area. Witnesses said the attackers opened fire indiscriminately on guests during the celebration.
Residents and community leaders have continued to call on security agencies to urgently intervene and curb the escalating violence in the region.
SUNTV Global Channel reports that the persistent attacks have heightened fear among residents, with many communities now living under constant threat of banditry and kidnapping.
